What are the requirements for publishing a video game?

Hypothetically, if one person made a video game, what are the requirements (financially and in terms of copyright) for making one? How do I publish it? How much would it cost in terms of...everything?What are the requirements for publishing a video game?Typically, if you're planning on making a console game, around the scope of an IP like Halo or something of that nature, you'd need a fairly large team or lots of free time. However, simple computer games are a whole other story and the same.

If you want your game to hit it big I'm pretty sure you'd need to pitch it to either a big name publisher, or find a small buisness publisher near you. Part of the trouble releasing it would be supply. This is major problem if you're planning on releasing the game on disk, but if it will be downloadable with no physical media the costs plummet.

Really it all depends on the scope of your project, so you'd have to be more specific in terms of what type of game you hypothetically made.
