How to get sims 2 downloads onto the game for use?

I have tried to put the item into the folder My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads and went onto the game but it didn't show up on the sims 2 game. I have tried it with a car and have got it to work but downloading hair onto the game doesnt seem to work. What i did, even though i have about 15 expansion packs, i uninstalled all of them and my sims 2 original game 9double delux or whatever you have), and i installed them all over again and it worked. Sometimes, though, your downloading them into the wrong path.. if your using winRar, theres a certain way that you use the box that comes up to download, not just changing everything so that it is set on the sims 2 downloads. If your using the sims 2.com, then i consider uninstalling all of your games and reinstalling them. If you have any uestions on how to use winRar, you can emial me.

Download something from the sims 2 website and install it and it would create a 'natural' download folder for you. After doing that then put your extracted downloads into there.

It could be any number of things...



1. Downloads is case sensitive so check you have it right!



2. Many downloads come zipped so you need to download winRAR if you haven't already got it. You can do so here: http://www.rarlabs.com/download.htm

Then right click on the files and choose extract here.



3. Have you got custom content enabled? If you have unzipped the files the game should recognise them and ask you before you play. (You will have to restart the game before the cc works)



4. Check you are downloading from bona fide sites.



5. Your hair may not appear in create a family, only in the mirror with the other custom hairs so check there.



6. The hair may only be one colour, so check them all.
