I have a card game every two weeks and I always make some appetizers. I like to make something different every time and I am running out of ideas. Thanks!Best appetizer recipe for a card game?I am having a poker party in a few weeks and I am making "build your own taco bowls." I'll have a bowl of crushed corn chips, a crockpot with taco meat, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa and sour cream, cheese and black olives. That way it's not messy on peoples hands during the game. Good luck that night :)Best appetizer recipe for a card game?
cream cheese balls are always good. Ham biscuits is a southern favorite, just a buttery biscuit stuffed with really good quality honey ham and a small slice of cheese. Gorp is good, like white chocolate chips, peanuts, chex rice cereal and kashi go lean crunch is one I always do for road trips. Mini taquitos, fried ravioli's, tempura shrimp, potstickers, beef on a stick, hush puppies. Gosh I could keep going.Best appetizer recipe for a card game?Hi TomSawyer, This is one of my favorite recipes! It's easy to prepare and not to hard on the "wallet"...LOL! Ingredients:
12 ounces jar apricot preserves
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
2 tablespoons Dijon-style mustard
ground black pepper, to taste
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
Directions:
In a medium bowl, combine preserve, horseradish, mustard and pepper. Taste the mixture and add more horseradish, mustard, and pepper to taste. Cover and chill this mixture overnight.
When ready to serve, place the cream cheese on a serving plate and pour the apricot mixture over the cream cheese. Serve with a basket of your favorite crackers, pita chips or bagel chips.
This recipe for "Hot Jezebel" serves/makes 3 cups
The surprising thing about this dish is the way the flavors actually "compliment" each other. I've got "rave reviews" everytime I've served it! XOXO Moonpie P.S. Plus I love the name..."Hot Jezebel"! It really gets people curious when you say it...LOL!

Paula(as in Paula Dean!)had a recipe I tried that; every man I know loves..a little putzy.. but good..take club crackers (not low fat..low sodium maybe..)sprinkle shredded(not the canned stuff)Parmesan on each and wrap the whole thing w/ half of a bacon slice..bake at 300 for about an hour(your going to want to do this on a broiler pan so the grease has somewhere to go) when the bacon is browned and looks done they are done-put on paper towels to cool-another tip is to try to wrap the cracker as completely as you can so you don't over-brown the cracker..I also sprinkled them with black pepper before baking..they sound super simple but they really are good..and bacon wrapped anything is always a winner
put a squirt of cream cheese in a rolled cone of salami secure with a toothpick. You can use pepperoni too. Also some cheese cubes and folded thin sliced lunch meats skewered on a toothpick with a black or green olive on the end. They are quick, easy and I've had success with them. I use toothpicks that are longer than normal, of course.Best appetizer recipe for a card game?
Bean dip is always good. I mix refried beans with a red sauce (taco seasoning is good, too) and layer the bottom of a 1 or 2 inch deep tray. I then add a layer of sour cream. I cover the sour cream with a layer of taco or nacho cheese, finely diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and black olives. Dip your favorite tortilla chips in this. It's always a hit plus it's super easy to make.
You can make a hot version of this, too. My ex sis-in-law used to make a fabulous venison and refried bean dip. You do almost everything the same as above except you add a layer of venison (or mix venison with the beans). Don't add the tomatoes, lettuce, or olives - those can be put on the side and added to individual servings, if desired. Bake the mixture until the cheese is melted. Yum! Serve with chips.
try the little party rye bread, a touch of butter, a sprinkle of garlic salt, put in toaster oven til crisp..cover with cream cheese, sliced olives, cucumbers, etc..use your imagination
i make this really well and it tastes real good and its simple:
get french bread (the long, skinny loaf kind), artichoke hearts, chicken, and provolone cheese.
slice the bread into pices about 1/2 inch wide. chop the artichokes and chicken and put on top of the bread. cover it with a piece of cheese and put salt and pepper on if you want. put in the oven at about 350F until the cheese melts. enjoy!
You don't want to serve anything that will "mark" the cards, such as greasy or sticky foods. Finger sandwiches, veggie tray, baked crackers and dips are always popular. Make sure you provide picks for anything that has a residue, such as cheeses and sausages. Don't serve chips or greasy crackers. Fruit is always good (again with a pick as they are usually wet).
