How do you start a new game in final fantasy for virtual console on the wii?

I cant get back to the original title screen to create a new game. The operations guide says press 1 or 2 but it doesn't work. What screen do you press it at?How do you start a new game in final fantasy for virtual console on the wii?To get back to the original title screen on any Virtual Console game, press the Home button while playing, then click on Reset. Note that you will lose your current "quick" save (when the game saves your current position when you go back to the Wii Menu without resetting).
