What is the billiards game that uses the little number balls?

I played a game with my grandfather and cousin a few years back where we all picked three numbers out of a jug with little numbered balls 1-15. I think the object was to knock each other's balls in without knowing what the other one had. Has anyone played this game? If so, what's the name of this game and what are the official rules as my memory is failing me.What is the billiards game that uses the little number balls?well I don't know the name of it, but it usually is a gamble game.

basically you have a deck of hards from 1 to K, or if you want, number 1-15 on 15 cards.

each player pick some cards depending on the rule, in your case, everyone has 3 balls so pick 3 cards. the number on that card indicate which ball is yours.

now the game begins, usually everyone gets one chance to hit one ball, even if he gets it, it's still the next player's turn.

the point is to hide your own balls and sink other's balls. you have to be able to sink a ball and do a safety with the cue ball to not let the next player to get your ball, of course don't be too obvious because now everyone knows what you got in your hand.

player is out when all his balls are sank...

usually this game requires the losers to pay the winner, but if it's for fun, then i guess it's okay.

the good thing about this game is you can have many players playing at the same table, if it's just 2 people playing each other, this won't be as fun, and you might just start to play 8 ball or 9 ball.
