How to transfer emulator game with save game files intact?

I have the Project 64 emulator on my old computer with a saved Zelda game that I need to finish. This computer is not working but in safe mode I can still access these files and put them on a flash drive. But when I open the file up on my new computer in the same Project 64 emulator, the file runs fine but none of my saved game data is present.
