I personally think Europe, Asia, and North America shouldn't be host because Europe is already hosting the 2012 and 2014 Olympics, Asia is hosting the 2008 Olympics, the USA has already been a lot of times host and Canada is already host of the 2010 Olympics.
It is unfair not to let Latin American nor African countries to host because this 2 regions combined have only hosted 1 Olympic Game (Mexico City, 1968)

i think south africa, very nice country, although crime rates are high...
or maybe spain...
but not italy, their fans are notoriously bad, football that is but still it lets their sporting reputation down

No, I see your point. I'd often wonder what's happen if we picked Iraq to host the Olympics, and I'm being serious...maybe the positive media attention would do some good?
Africa is hosting the world cup in 2010, but there are already concerns over safety, as lawlessness is rife, and rape is common. Personally i think they shouldnt have got it until they have sorted their act out, because the crime in SE is out of control. The money should be spent instead on those who need it in their country as poverty is a big problem. Also, South Africa's support of the corrupt and inhumane Zimbabwean "government" wouldnt bode well with travelling diplomats, but as the world cup campaign was supported by nelson mandela it was a no brainer, i mean who would refuse one of the world's foremost statesmen?
Any country that has a corrupt government who are willing to buy their way to hosting it.
