How early do you need to buy tickets for a regular season game?

I live in Australia, but next year Im planning on going to America for a couple of months. My top priority is to see a few NBA games. So Im wondering how tickets are purchased.



Do you buy them 2 days before a game? 2 weeks before? Or 2 months before?



As much info on getting tickets would be appreciated.



Also, I would most likely want to see a Cavs game or at Madison Square Garden.How early do you need to buy tickets for a regular season game?Most the time you are best waiting until the last month.
